When you meet Anton, the first thing you notice is his infectious smile—a smile that carries hope, resilience, and a story worth sharing. Anton is more than just a van driver for Continuum's transportation team; he is a living testament to the transformative power of support, opportunity, and perseverance.
Before joining Continuum, Anton worked in the culinary industry, but a traumatic experience paired with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic forced him to step away. What began as a temporary hiatus stretched into two difficult years. Like so many others during that time, Anton wrestled with depression and struggled to find his footing again.
When the world slowly began to reopen, Anton knew it was time to take control of his future. With the help of Michigan Works, Anton walked through Continuum's doors seeking competitive employment and a fresh start. He began as a volunteer, diligently following his Individual Work Plan (IWP). He showed up day after day, determined to overcome his challenges and rediscover his purpose.
Anton’s kindness and work ethic stood out immediately. Whether maintaining the van or ensuring clients reached their destinations safely, Anton brought heart and dedication to everything he did. As he put it, _"Driving helps me support my goals—to fulfill dreams, to serve others, and to make a difference."_ When a part-time driver position opened, Anton was the obvious choice. Anton found the competitive employment he was seeking through our van service.
Continuum was not just a workplace for Anton; it was a place where he could thrive, surrounded by people who believed in him. Although there is no guarantee of employment, we always consider our clients first when opportunities arise. Anton's dedication and motivation made it clear: he was the right person for the role.
Today, Anton is an invaluable member of the transportation team. His impact stretches far beyond his job title. He ensures every ride is smooth, safe, and welcoming, treating clients with the same care he hopes to bring to his future career as a massage therapist. Anton dreams of creating peaceful spaces where people can heal—places filled with soft light, calming aromas, and warmth. _"I want to help people feel better,"_ he says with a quiet conviction.
Anton is also an incredible poet, finding solace and expression in his writing. His words, like his work, inspire those around him. He dreams of publishing his poetry one day, sharing pieces like _"The Power of a Smile"—_ a reflection of his own journey to joy and purpose.
