At Continuum, we celebrate the resilience and achievements of our clients, and Jerry’s journey is one of those inspiring stories. For Jerry, the road to securing his first job was filled with challenges, but his determination to gain independence kept him moving forward.
Jerry has big dreams. Currently living with his mother, he envisions moving into his own apartment—an important step toward his personal freedom. He knew that securing employment was the first step toward making this dream a reality. However, the job search was daunting to say the least.
That’s where Ronald, one of our dedicated job coaches, came in. Since joining Continuum on June 6, 2024, Ronald has been helping individuals like Jerry develop the soft skills needed to succeed in the workforce. Ronald worked with Jerry throughout the job hunt, helping him prepare for interviews, practice communication skills, and build the confidence needed to land his first job.
Ronald’s commitment to Jerry’s success was unwavering. On the day of Jerry’s interview at Jimmy John’s, Ronald didn’t just give advice—he accompanied Jerry to the interview, providing support and even helping him communicate with the manager. Thanks to Ronald’s encouragement and Jerry’s determination, Jerry was offered the job. Now, Jerry makes sub sandwiches alongside his coworkers and commutes to work via the Continuum Transportation van.
But this is just the beginning for Jerry. Employment is a key part of his larger plan to achieve independence, and now that he’s secured a job, he’s well on his way. Jerry’s success at work brings him one step closer to moving into his own apartment and living the life he’s envisioned.
Reflecting on his journey, Jerry’s determination shines through. The job search wasn’t easy, but he refused to give up. “I’ve always believed that if I can help change just one person’s life, I’ll be happy,” Ronald shares, and Jerry’s success is a testament to the impact of their combined efforts.
We are proud of Jerry’s progress and the personal strength he’s shown along the way. His story is a powerful reminder that, with perseverance and the right support, anything is possible.
